A World of Learning: Our United Nations Celebration
At Wayland Montessori, children learn to see the world as a place full of cultures, traditions, and shared experiences. Our United Nations Celebration gave families two days to explore and appreciate this global perspective together.
On October 9, families shared their heritage and traditions with the children. Some wore traditional clothing or brought cultural items from home. Others shared books, stories, or songs that reflected their background. Using the classroom's world map, children located countries such as Cuba, Sweden, China, and India, while parents offered insight and encouragement during these conversations.
The celebration continued on October 10 with a community potluck, featuring favorite dishes from Turkey, India, Italy, and more. The gathering created a lively opportunity for families and staff to enjoy food, conversation, and connection.
This annual event helps children understand the world beyond the classroom and strengthens the sense of belonging that defines Wayland Montessori.
