Summer Learning That Does Not Feel Like School (Because It Is Not Supposed To)
At Wayland Montessori, we think summer should not be a tradeoff between fun and growth. Our Summer Program, running June 15 through August 28, is designed so kids stay active, curious, and connected, all while having the kind of summer they actually want to have.
The best learning does not look like learning. That has always been the Montessori way. Put kids in the right environment with real experiences, and growth happens on its own. When our children visit the town beach, they are building confidence, exploring nature, and navigating friendships. When they walk to the post office to mail a letter they wrote themselves, reading and writing suddenly have real purpose. No worksheets required.
Weekly themes keep the summer feeling fresh. Rather than a series of random days, our summer is built around weekly themes that give kids something to look forward to. That rhythm keeps things engaging from June all the way through August, and it feels natural for Montessori kids who already thrive with purposeful routines.
Friendships carry through. For a lot of families, this is the biggest thing. Kids who have spent the year building deep friendships get to keep those connections going all summer. And when September rolls around, the transition back to school is so much smoother for children who stayed close to their community and their environment.
New families, this is for you too. Our Summer Program is open to families joining us in the fall. If your child is starting at Wayland Montessori in September, summer is a perfect way to get comfortable before the school year begins.
Sign-ups are open now through May 1. We hope to see many of our families for another summer of discovery.
